Satellite images released by NASA on Thursday, March 23, show the rainfall that caused extreme flooding in Peru over the past week. More rainfall is expected in the coming weeks, according to reports.

As much as two inches of rain per hour fell in parts of the country in between March 14 and March 21. The storms killed 72 people, according to reports. It was the deadliest period of rains since 1998, when more than 300 people died due to a sequence of storms.
