The World Baseball Classic championship trophy is finally coming to America.
The United States defeated Puerto Rico 8-0 on Wednesday night behind six hitless innings from Marcus Stroman.
“We wanted to put USA on top of the baseball world, where it belongs,” Eric Hosmer said.
It marked the USA’s first appearance in the tournament finals, and they’re the third country to win in the tournament’s four editions. Ian Kinsler, Andrew McCutchen and Brandon Crawford each drove in two runs for the U.S., which finished the tournament with a 6-2 record.
