The artist John Latham (1921-2006) was a pioneer of British conceptual art. His work influenced his peers as well as generations of younger artists. Currently, the Serpentine Galleries in London dedicate their exhibitions to John Latham’s work. The Serpentine Gallery holds a major retrospective on Latham’s oeuvre, titled “A World View: John Latham”. At the same time, the Serpentine Sackler Gallery brings together contemporary artists whose work has affinities with John Latham’s ideas: Tania Bruguera, Douglas Gordon, Laure Prouvost, and Cally Spooner.

The exhibition “A World View: John Latham” spans Latham’s whole career, featuring sculpture, installation, painting, film, land art, engineering, found object assemblage, performance, and his theoretical writings. It includes Latham’s iconic spray and roller paintings; his one-second drawings, and films such as “Erth” (1971). This video provides you with a virtual tour of the exhibition on the occasion of the press view on March 1, 2017. The retrospective runs until May 21, 2017.
