President Trump’s longstanding adviser Roger Stone says he was a victim in a hit-and-run incident that occurred in Pompano Beach, Florida on Wednesday, reports WFOR.
He also suggested the crash may have been “deliberate," notes the Washington Post.
The police report doesn’t mention him being at the scene, but Stone, who claimed to be in the passenger seat, said he left prior to authorities’ arrival as their response was taking an incredibly long time.
An eyewitness report appears to corroborate that account.
Stone told the Post his suspicions are partially rooted in the timing of the crash.
He noted the accident happened the very day, “the ranking Democrat called for me to testify before an inquiry into alleged Russian collusion with the Trump campaign.”
Stone is a person of interest in the Russia investigation for a number of reasons.
Among them is his admitted communication with Guccifer 2.0, the individual or group claiming responsibility for the DNC hack.
Stone told The Washington Times his exchange was "completely innocuous" and “It was so perfunctory, brief and banal I had forgotten it.”
Guccifer 2.0 is suspected of having ties with the Russian military.
