The world’s first robot-operated 3D-printer cluster is up and running at a print shop in Brooklyn. Voodoo Manufacturing built the bot to operate their 160 printers. The digital factory, known as Project Skywalker, allows production to operate continuously, 24 hours a day. The robotic arm swaps out the printer plates between prints. According to Voodoo, production increases 400% when operated by a robot versus a human. The company predicts it will cut costs by 90% over the next five years.
