President Trump’s son has lashed out against the Washington Post over its coverage of an incident where vandals targeted the Trump National Golf Club in California.
Monday morning, Eric Trump tweeted, “The [Washington Post] should be ashamed of themselves. This is a criminal act. Disgusting what some media has become.”
He also copied Amazon’s billionaire founder Jeff Bezos who owns the newspaper.
Trump was responding to a message someone else had tweeted about the Post calling the incident “a daring act of defiance.”
The report centers around an environmental activist group which trespassed onto the course Sunday morning and claims to have spent less than an hour carving out large letters on the green, reading, “NO MORE TIGERS. NO MORE WOODS.”
One member reportedly told the Post, “Tearing up the golf course felt justified in many ways. Repurposing what was once a beautiful stretch of land into a playground for the privileged is an environmental crime in its own right.”
According to The Hill, “The article originally referred to the act of vandalism as a ‘daring act of defiance,’ though it has since been updated by The Post.”
The revised article now describes the incident as “an elaborate act of vandalism” and features an editor’s note remarking on the changes.
