President Donald Trump announced his first budget proposal, the highlight of which is his plan to spend $54 billion on the defense budget and cut the same amount from non-defense funding. The areas that will see the largest reduction include foreign aid, the Environmental Protection Agency and other programs in the State Department. “We must ensure that our courageous servicemen and women have the tools to deter war, and when called upon to fight in our name, only do one thing — win,” An official from Office of Management and Budget said that Trump's first budget will not address taxes or mandatory spending. The budget is subject to congressional approval.
