The crash was reported at about 7 p.m. on Saturday as the city prepared for the festivities. Authorities said the pickup truck hit two cars before veering off into the crowd. Officials said 21 people were hospitalized, and at least five people were believed to be in critical condition. The victims range in age from as young as three years old to adults in their 40s, New Orleans police said.
