ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA — An LAPD officer is on administrative leave after getting involved in a physical struggle with a 13-year-old in Anaheim that saw the officer fire his gun and nearly shoot the teen.

The incident occurred around Tuesday afternoon, when the unidentified off-duty cop confronted a group of teens who were walking across his property, CW affiliate KTLA reported.

The officer grabbed a girl for walking on his front yard, but 13-year-old Christian Dorscht intervened and told the cop he should not treat a girl like that.

Dorscht can be heard in video of the incident saying, “I’m going to sue you.” The cop says he thought think the teen said, “I’m going to shoot you.”

Thinking Dorscht was going to shoot him, the cop grabbed him by the neck. Other teens tried to help Dorscht by pushing the cop into a bush. That’s when cop then pulled out a gun and fired it in Dorscht’s direction.

Anaheim police arrested Dorscht and a 15-year-old boy. Police said Dorscht is “alleged to have threatened to shoot the off-duty officer.”

Cellphone video of the incident was viewed more than 18,000 times on YouTube as of midday Wednesday, but that afternoon it was removed for violating the site’s Community Guidelines.

The Anaheim Police Department tweeted warnings advising citizens not to take part in the protests. Police have already arrested two dozen people for misdemeanor charges including failure to disperse.

The Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement issued on Wednesday night that the officer was being being placed on administrative leave.
