The famous Sour Toe Cocktail is a drink with a severed human toe in it served up at the Downtown Hotel in Dawson City, Yukon in northern Canada.
The story goes that a long time ago a rum runner in the Yukon lost his toe to frost bite so his brother chopped it off and preserved it in a mason jar of rum. Years later it was discovered and turned into somewhat of a tourist attraction in town, and those who drank a cocktail with the toe in it would be true Sour Doe's aka people who could survive the winter in Dawson City. These days it is pure tourist attraction and is served up every night from 9pm to 11pm at the Downtown Hotel. You can drink it fast, you can drink it slow, but your lips must touch the toe.
If you swallow it by accident there is a $2,500 fine.
