Early Sunday morning, Chelsea Clinton posted a wry tweet reacting to President Trump's mention of an "incident" in Sweden.
Chelsea Clinton had a wry response to President Trump’s unsubstantiated claim that there was a recent terror attack in Sweden.
Early Sunday morning, she tweeted, “What happened in Sweden Friday night? Did they catch the Bowling Green Massacre perpetrators?”
According to the New York Times, the president made the reference at a Florida rally on Saturday when he said, “We’ve got to keep our country safe. You look at what’s happening in Germany, you look at what’s happening last night in Sweden. Sweden, who would believe this?”
However, the BBC reports that “There were no reported terrorist incidents in Sweden on Friday.”
Sweden’s former Prime Minister Carl Bildt tweeted in response, “Sweden? Terror attack? What has he been smoking? Questions abound.”
People also began mocking Trump with the hashtag #lastnightinsweden which one person used to tweet, “I'm safe! In fact, we're all safe here in Sweden.”
Someone else referenced it while writing, “My thoughts are with Sweden while we are still learning what happened - one tweet at a time.”
And another person said, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the all the victims of the horrible tragedy that never happened #lastnightinSweden. Sad!”
