On Sunday morning, a woman in Pennsylvania was found dead hours after she’d gotten her arm stuck in a clothing donation drop-off bin.
Many cities are dotted with bins for the collection of donated clothing, but, while convenient, they’re not without potential danger.
Judith Permar, a resident of Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, was found dead on Sunday morning, hours after she’d gotten her arm stuck in one of the drop-off containers, reports WNEP.
According to the county coroner, the woman was attempting to deposit clothes when the step stool she was using gave way.
The death was ruled accidental, with “blunt force trauma and possible hypothermia” listed as causes.
Authorities noted that when Permar was found, her feet were not touching the ground, reports the BBC.
It’s estimated she’d been in that position for roughly 6 hours.
Mount Carmel Police Chief Brian Hollenbush notes that when officers arrived at the scene, Permar’s car was still running.
