The Syrian Army and its allies advanced against Islamic State militants in al-Bab city, in north Aleppo province, on February 6 and 7. The advances were reported by international press and by the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The advances meant that the state-backed forces had reinforced their siege of the strategic town, cutting off a supply route between al-Bab and IS strongholds of Raqqa, Deir Ezzor and Aleppo, the observatory said. Syrian forces have been advancing on al-Bab from the southwest, while Turkish-backed rebels have been advancing from the north. The first video here was shared by a pro-regime media group and is described as showing scenes from Ouishia, a town seven kilometer from al-Bab. The second video was shared by a pro-opposition media group and is described as showing rebels fighting around al-Bab.
