WordPress updates are comprised of three different things:
1 - WordPress core software updates
2 - WordPress plugin updates
3 - WordPress theme updates
On our Solo Business plan we apply the WordPress Core updates (the CMS software updates). Generally we keep these updates slightly behind the latest version so as to allow time for testing and any bugs to be worked out. This plan also includes updates for critical security holes in plugins (this is rarely required, maybe once a year) but does not include any regular plugin updates.
Our Small Business plan includes plugin updates on a quarterly basis and our Serious Business plan includes monthly plugin updates.
**Note, if you are a Woocommerce user extra charges may apply for Woocommerce core updates simply because these updates are far more complex.
We do not update theme files on any plan because there is a big risk in most cases that this will overwrite any custom coding or custom design work that has been done, effectively breaking your website permanently. Occasionally a critical security update will be released for a theme and in these instances we'll reach out and start a discussion in relation to these updates if required.
