A new study has just reopened the age old question: Are dogs or are cats better? Japanese scientists tested to see if cats like dogs, could display use of episodic memory, which is often associated with having a degree of self-awareness. Researchers tested to see if 49 domestic cats could remember which containers they ate food out of after they were emptied and after waiting 15-minutes. And yes, cats could recall which containers they ate out of. "Understanding cats more deeply helps to establish better cat-human relationships," study author Saho Takagi,“…Cats may be as intelligent as dogs, as opposed to the common view of people that dogs are much smarter."
