Newly-elected US president Donald Trump took to Twitter to brand Chelsea Manning an “ungrateful traitor” for calling Barack Obama a “weak leader” in his column piece for the Guardian, despite the fact that the outgoing president commuted her 35-year sentence over a week ago. Manning has been a focus of a worldwide debate on government secrecy since she provided more than 700,000 documents, videos, diplomatic cables and battlefield accounts to the anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks - a leak for which she was sentenced to serve 35 years in prison.
