How Science Explains That Women Need More Sleep Than Men Because Their Brains Work Harder
Scientists have confirmed that women have a more complex brain structure, which requires more sleep than men. Namely, Jim Horne, director of the Sleep Research Centre at Loughborough University explains that for women, poor quality of sleep is linked with high levels of psychological distress and feeling of depression, hostility, and anger. He added that these feelings weren’t associated with the same degree of sleep disruption in males.
