john abraham said that as he grew up in andheri east and friends from all parts of the city, he is very well versed in the street slang spoken in mumbai, which was used for his character manya surve in the film 'shootout at wadala'. abraham further said that the clothes and hairstyle that he has sported in the film is very true to what manya surve actually was like. he also rubbished rumours that the film is making heroes out of gangsters but said that they have merely portrayed the reality of the situation in the film.
