Based on comments shared via social media and those made to reporters, Donald Trump has given mixed signals on how the transition is going.
The Hill notes that on Wednesday afternoon, journalists gathered at Trump’s Florida estate asked him if he believed the process was moving along smoothly.
The president-elect responded, “Oh, I think very, very smoothly. Very good. You don't think so?"
Oddly, the comment came just hours after he offered a significantly different outlook on the matter, tweeting, “Doing my best to disregard the many inflammatory President O statements and roadblocks.Thought it was going to be a smooth transition - NOT!”
It remains unclear if the Twitter comment was made in regards to a specific incident or intended as a general assessment.
The Boston Globe reports President Obama and Trump also had a phone conversation on Wednesday and according to the White House, "call was 'positive' and focused on 'continuing a smooth and effective transition.'"
