The Syrian regime announced Wednesday that it has assumed full control of Aleppo. Government forces now control all of Eastern Aleppo, an area that was occupied by rebels for the last four years. The news comes as the International Committee of the Red Cross said heavy snowfall and rickety vehicles have impaired their ability to evacuate thousands of civilians and rebel fighters. According to the United Nations, roughly 400,000 Syrians have been killed and 4.81 million have left the country since the war began in 2011.
