Finger Dexterity: Conceal Carrying can be affected in cold winter time weather from a loss of finger dexterity, or a numbness in the fingers that derives from a lack of blood flow. When fingers get cold, it can more difficult to feel for your gun and more difficult to be accurate. This is why we don't recommend letting your hands go cold.

Handgun Size: During the winter and other cold weather times, we commonly wear more clothing, including jackets and larger/more shirts. When this is the case, concealing full size handguns becomes easier. However, be sure that you train with whatever new gun you chose to carry during winter times.

Wearing Gloves: Winter gloves can be a life saver for finger dexterity, but they introduce several changes to your concealed carry draw stroke. If you wear snow gloves that are large, you may find it difficult to feel your handgun well, or even get your finger into the trigger well at all. If you do choose to wear snow gloves and carry, be sure to include them into your winter training, where you would incorporate removing one or both gloves before drawing your firearm. Just drop them to the ground and follow the rest of your ccw draw stroke.

Wearing Jackets: Winter Jackets are large and definitely help with concealment. When you plan to conceal carry with one, make sure to train with it and plan for a different draw stroke. Adding a large additional layer of clothing like this may require you to lift not only your shirt, but your jacket separately. Also worth noting, if you get a jacket with concealed carry options, be aware that nothing beats a proper concealed carry holster with a custom molded hard shell specifically engineered for your handgun.
