How to connect 2 routers on a single lan through wds (wireless distribution system )?


*1. make sure you are having a lan connection (internet connection)

*2. min 2 router needed for wds make one router as a access point (primary router) and another
router as a repeater(secondary router) max router is up to your wish....



ACESS POINT (my acess point router is tenda n300)

1. *connect the lan to the main access point router in the wan port

2. open any browser in pc or mobile the default login ip address is 192.168.0.1 (for most of the routers)
pls check back on the router for ip address.
3. it will ask for username and password (default username = admin and password = admin)
for most routers its is also given in the back of the router
4. after that it will move on to the next page internet connection setup/type below that click on DHCP
5. it will automatically connect yout router with lan....
6. And select wireless option->wireless security and disable wps option and setup a security key
or password for your router.
7. *In wireless basic settings ->channel and (select any one of the channel) eg: (channel 11)


REPEATER(secondary router or range extender my secondary router is tp link TL-WR740N)


1. place the repeater where u need to extend the range of the wifi
2. switch on the router and connect with it move on to any browser and type the ip 192.168.0.1
(its the default ip for most router )
3. it will ask for username and password (default username = admin and password = admin)
for most routers its is also given in the back of the router
4. click on wireless->wireless settings ->and check mark the Enable wds option
5. click on survey option ->it will move to next window choose the main router (access point router)
and click on connect
6. select the channel and specify it which you gave at access point .
7. select wireless security and choose wpa/wpa2 and type the passwors for secondary router or repeater.
8*disable the DHCP settings
9*select network ->and choose lan option -> click on ip and type ip 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.100
it will take some time to cofigure new ip wait for it .
10 it will restart the router now you will connect to both routers depending on the signal strength
both router ip should be accessed with the connected router ....
