Empty Dreams is a song about how our dreams sustain us no matter how little others may understand our vision and passion.
Musicians and singers start by learning the songs of those we admire, hoping to move beyond that to our own, but it's really a dream that sustains us whether or not we "make it". I hope you find it to be meaningful in your life.
LYRICS:
Empty Dreams
by Richard McCargar
Verse 1
Rubber bands on peach crates
I played as George and John
“There’s no future in it Son”
I said, Someone’s gonna be the one
My dreams may be empty
but they don’t fade away
All hope may be lost
I don’t see it that way
Chorus:
Empty Dreams and Broken Bottles
Help Me Pass the Time
Empty Dreams and Broken Bottles
Haunt the Backroads of My Mind
Verse 2
Must have played their songs a million times
to make them come out right
Every note and chord was magic
the melody makes you high
Every song taught me a lesson
about what they felt inside
I put pen to paper
Pushed My Ego Aside
Chorus:
Empty Dreams and Broken Bottles
Help Me Pass the Time
Empty Dreams and Broken Bottles
Haunt the Backroads of My Mind
Verse 3
When I started my song
they began to sway
That’s when I knew
I was born to play
My dreams may be empty
but they don’t fade away
All hope may be lost
I don’t see it that way
Chorus:
Empty Dreams and Broken Bottles
Help Me Pass the Time
Empty Dreams and Broken Bottles
Help Me Free My Mind
