On Sunday, John Bolton, a former U.N. ambassador and candidate for the upcoming deputy secretary of state post, suggested the CIA reports of Russian hacking could be a "false flag."

Recently, the CIA reported it found evidence that Russia had hacked the servers of both the DNC and RNC and concluded the nation intervened in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, reports the Washington Post.
On Sunday, John Bolton, a former U.N. ambassador and candidate for the upcoming deputy secretary of state post, suggested that the CIA reports of hacking could be a "false flag." 
In making his case, he questioned why the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails turned up no evidence of Russian involvement, but the probe into the national committee hacks did.
During an appearance on Fox News, Bolton told Eric Shawn, “It’s not at all clear to me just viewing this from the outside that this hacking into the DNC and the RNC computers was not a false flag operation. The question that has to be asked is, why did the Russians run their smart intelligence service against Hillary’s server but their dumb intelligence services against the election?”
Shawn asked, “Are you actually accusing someone here in the administration or in the intelligence community of trying to throw something?”
Bolton replied, “We just don’t know. But I believe that intelligence has been politicized in the Obama administration to a very significant degree.”
