PETA has stirred controversy again - this time in India - by signing up with the adult star Sunny Leone for a campaign focused on homeless dogs.

Sunny Leone, besides working in the adult entertainment industry has recently forayed into reality TV and bollywood films. She is said to be a dog lover and has 2 dogs herself.

Proponents believe picking her is a smart choice as she'll definitely help start the public conversations and debate needed to tackle the problem involving homeless dogs in India.

PETA's India chief is quoted as saying in Deccan Chronicle
"We deal with matters of life or death for animals. We can't risk such important issues being unnoticed. Sunny and her husband support the idea of adopting homeless dogs instead of buying dogs from breeders or pet stores."

Critics say it's simply sensationalist and there are others who could have been a better fit.

Whether you like PETA's ads or not, it's hard to deny the awareness this organization has built through attention-grabbing and sometimes controversial advertising messages. There aren't many other nonprofit charitable organizations that can claim to have the same public mindshare as PETA.

Their marketing strategy is a big reason why PETA is the largest animal rights organization in the world today with 3 million members.

What do you think of PETA's decision to with Sunny Leone in India? Do you think it'll be effective?
