BNSF Freight Pulling Metrolink? Yes! In 2016, Metrolink borrowed locomotives from BNSF to run in front of the cab cars on most of their commuter trains. This was done because of a design flaw with the pilot (or plow) of the cab cars. The BNSF locomotives will continue to be used until some time this fall when all of the repairs are expected to be completed.
