Canadian government stiffens firearm laws as gun-related killings spike and U.S. smugglers get creative

Canada bans most guns and has a minuscule number of gun-related homicides a year. But, worried about smuggled firearms from the United States, its government is preparing to stiffen its already tough gun laws and step up border surveillance.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has promised new regulations and a string of measures to counter gun smuggling, which is regarded in the United States as a dangerous problem underscoring much looser firearm laws.

The move comes as police have discovered an increased number of high-powered handguns, semiautomatic and automatic weapons in Canadian cities.

Since 2005, Toronto has had the worst of it. As gun battles broke out across the city between rival street gangs that year, innocent people got caught in the crossfire.

Shooting Tips: Understanding the Benefits of a Suppressor

Sound suppressors—also known as silencers, though they don’t actually silence gunfire—are legal to own in all but a handful of states. And in most of the states where ownership is legal, hunting with them is also allowed, though you’d be hard-pressed to uncover that fact in the state’s game regulations. This is a shame, because silencers are great additions to any firearm, whether for hunting, target practice, or competition. In other countries the use of silencers is encouraged, and in some cases, required. It is perhaps the only example where gun rights in the United States lag behind those in Europe.

Trudeau gives your cash to Hamas-influenced group

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau seems to prefer spending his time – and your money – overseas.

While Trudeau was glad-handing with the communist dictator of Cuba, his government announced funding to a UN organization with open ties to Islamist terrorists.

On Wednesday, the Trudeau government announced it would send $25 million taxpayer dollars to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), an organization that is supposed to provide relief and social services to Palestinian people.

This may not seem out of the ordinary, since Canada funds all sorts of UN projects and schemes. But UNRWA is not just another UN agency.
