Two electors, Washington’s Bret Chiafolo and Colorado’s Michael Baca, are engaged in a last-ditch effort to keep Trump out of the Oval Office by encouraging Republican electoral vote casters to go with a write-in.

In the days since Donald Trump was declared the winner of the presidential election, despite apparently losing the popular vote, there has been a great deal of talk about the Electoral College.

More specifically, many are buzzing about the possibility of upending it and stopping a Trump presidency from happening.

Millions have signed a petition asking the electors to uphold the popular vote and declare Hillary Clinton the victor.

Meanwhile, two actual electors, Washington’s Bret Chiafolo and Colorado’s Michael Baca, are engaged in a last-ditch effort to keep Trump out of the Oval Office by encouraging Republican electoral vote casters to go with a write-in.

While both mean leading the attempt are Democrats, it is not their intention to take the win away from the Republican Party.

Among the alternatives they’re suggesting are Mitt Romney and John Kasich.

Further, the two men do not expect to succeed, as the odds are overwhelming not in their favor.

The website for the Electoral College notes, “…it is rare for Electors to disregard the popular vote by casting their electoral vote for someone other than their party's candidate…Throughout our history as a nation, more than 99 percent of Electors have voted as pledged.”
