As Donald Trump won state after key state, the mood at the Javits Centre in New York, Hillary Clinton’s HQ, was sombre. Crowds had gathered hoping for victory, but in the early hours of the morning, disappointment and sadness took over.

“I’m very disappointed. I’m worried for her,” said one supporter. “They did the best job they can, I’m sure the country will be ok, but I feel bad for her.”

“I really hope that if he does win that he can actually unite our country and pull back on his rhetoric but I’m a little skeptical,” said another. “It’s America, let’s hope for the best, I’m optimistic but I’m am also extremely disappointed and surprised.”

“I’m to the point that I am concerned about which direction we will be moving in our country, in terms of how we will deal with the racial issues that seem to have been implied in this administration, this upcoming administration… That’s a concern,” said an elderly African-American supporter.
