Malta-based NGO Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS) rescued on Tuesday 342 migrants, including women and children, who were trying to reach Italy.
The migrants, who left from the coast of Libya, were from Nigeria, Niger, Togo, Pakistan, Syria and Libya.
The Topaz Responder, a rescue ship run by MOAS, completed the operation with the assistance of smaller rescue vessels that carried the migrants from their dinghies to the Responder.
