ARLINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS — Three men sprang into action when a woman accidentally drove her SUV into a pond on Friday afternoon.
Helen Joyce, 68, was parking her Ford Edge on a roundabout in Arlington, Massachusetts when she jumped curb and drove into a pond, according a report by WCVB Boston.
Fortunately for her, three good Samaritans saw what happened.
Dan Frazier and Kenneth Chapman were cycling nearby and jumped into the water to help. As did Cesar Perozo, who reached the sinking vehicle first and told Joyce to exit through the back door.
But water rushed in as soon as Perozo opened the back door, causing the SUV to sink further into the water.
Perozo was unable to find Joyce and feared for the worst. But she miraculous resurfaced, fully conscious.
Frazier and Chapman pulled Joyce from the water. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated for mild hypothermia.
Arlington Police Chief Frederick Ryan said Joyce will not face criminal charges, but her ability to drive safely will be reviewed.
