A New Jersey Transit train that plowed into Hoboken station, killing one person and injuring more than 100 others, was said to have been going twice the speed limit at the moment of impact, according to the National Transportation Safety Board. The train reached a maximum speed of 21 MPH, compared to the limit of 10 MPH allowed for the station area. NJ Transit has since implemented a new rule for pulling into two of its stations. The conductor must join the engineer whenever a train pulls into Hoboken Terminal or its Atlantic City station, an NJ Transit spokeswoman said.
