Walmart has been recently granted a patent for self driving robot shopping carts.
Walmart is looking to put an end to a number of shopping-cart woes, including not being able to find one or having to navigate those scattered about the parking lot.
The company has been recently granted a patent for robotic versions that can come when summoned, reports CNN Money.
According to the patent request, the self-driving carts will also be equipped to help customers locate their desired items in the store.
Noted attachments will include video cameras and sensors.
Concern has been expressed about the possibility of the carts displacing human workers.
Over the past years, Walmart has significantly cut its labor force, eliminating some positions and filling in others with features such as self-checkouts.
On the matter, a company spokesperson told Business Insider, "…our goal always is to find ways to help simplify processes to help our associates better serve our customers as they will continue to play a critical role in the success of our business."
