The Chiefs move to 1-0 on the season with the 33-27 home overtime victory to the San Diego Chargers as a -6 ½ point favorite. The total finished at over 45 ½ points. KC overcame a 24-3 deficit midway through the third quarter. It was a big game for quarterback Alex Smith who completed 34 of 48 passes for 363 yards with two touchdowns and a pick. Smith engineered four touchdown drives in the team’s five red zone drives. Kansas City allowed the Chargers to rush for 155 yards.
Houston is 1-0 following the 23-14 home victory to the Chicago Bears as a -5 ½ point favorite. The total went under 43 points. Down 14-10 at the half the Texans outscored Chicago 13-0 in the second half. They had a good defensive effort by limiting the Bears to 258 yards with 73 rushing on 20 carries plus five sacks. Brock Osweiler in his first game with the Texans hit on 22 of 35 passes for 231 yards with two touchdowns and a pick. He engineered one touchdown in three red zone drives.
