Donald Trump has been reluctant to make his tax returns available to the public, but a Silicon Valley billionaire is hoping to change his mind.
On Monday, LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman said he will make up to a $5 million charitable donation if Trump releases the highly sought after information prior to the October 19 presidential debate.
Hoffman intends to add the money to the proceeds of a CrowdPac campaign started by Pete Kiernan, a Marine Corp veteran.
Kiernan established the fundraiser as motivation for the returns’ release, and, should that happen, plans to give the money to a number of veteran organizations, notes CNET.
In announcing his participation on Medium, Hoffman noted, “Given Trump’s vocal support of veterans, I imagine he will recognize the great good that can come from Kiernan’s proposal.”
