This project is the completion of something started back in 2012. Further back in 2010 I realized that
I was beginning to play regularly in Paris in a very techno-ish style, which a like a lot, but that was
something new for me. Before that time, I was always producing music in very different genres all
the time, and changing genres all the time as well. After all, the name “The Gambler” symbolizes the
randomness of the genre I will make.
Because I was playing techno all the time, I wanted to retrieve that freedom and variety of the genres
I was producing before, and get out of my comfort zone (I like challenges), but also but in practice
what I learned zoning inside the underground Paris club scene.
Starting several tracks a year, I was down with half an album of genre consistent tracks in 2016, plus
others waiting to be finished. I had then this discussion with my friend Alexandre Mochino with
whom I had worked before on a remix for his label, and was launching a new label with a more
melodic/progressive style which suited my style perfectly. The discussion carried on very fast and
first demos were accepted pretty quickly so the decision was made to make a full album, something
that producers don’t do much but that was very important for me.
I’ve always loved sampling and making out grooves with drum and bass guitar, as well as trying to
use more natural sounding sythns, something you don’t really need in pure techno sounds and I
really missed that. This album is dedicated to this journey.
