The two sides of the 565-meter-high Beipanjiang Bridge, the world’s highest cable-stayed bridge, across southwest China’s Yunnan and Guizhou provinces were connected Saturday afternoon.

The bridge stretches across the Nizhu River Gorge and is 565 meters above the river.

The bridge will become operational at the end of this year.
