MARTHA’S VINEYARD, MASSACHUSETTS — A man was arrested after breaking into a family’s home and painting their dog purple last Saturday in Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard.

According to the police report, officers responded to a call about someone having stolen a vehicle before crashing it and fleeing the scene on foot.

Ten minutes later, police said they received a call from a resident who said they had returned home to find their ground floor window forced in, various items were stolen and their dog painted purple.

A neighbor told police a dishevelled man knocked on their door asking for someone who did not live there. The suspect’s description led police to a 19-year-old Felix Reagan, ABC affiliate KSAT 12 reported.

A Massachusetts State Trooper who was helping the Oak Bluffs police found Reagan after someone called to say a man was looking in their window.

Officers found he was carrying prescription pills, a driver’s license and credit cards that were from the home that had been burglarized.

While transporting Reagan back to the station, he allegedly attempted to kick out the police vehicle’s windows and kicked an officer twice.

According to the police report, Reagan had previously been arrested in June for breaking and entering, vandalism and being a minor in possession of alcohol.

He now faces charges including breaking and entering, destruction of property, cruelty to animals, and battery on an officer. He may be charged further as the investigation continues.
