Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy's new book "Everything for France" hit stores on Wednesday (August 24), outlining his policy platform after he announced his bid to run in France's 2017 presidential elections.
Sarkozy has done little to conceal his desire to return to the Elysee Palace since returning to high-level politics in late 2014 when he took the helm of France's main centre-right party, Les Republicains.
On display in the Lamartine bookshop in the 16th district of Paris, his new book courts National Front voters with a promise to limit the right to French nationality of children born to immigrants.
"I think he is the best and I hope he will win the French elections," customer Carmen, who wanted to be one of the first to purchase the book, said.
Sarkozy will join more than a dozen contenders vying for the Les Republicains ticket in primaries, where former prime minister Alain Juppe will be his strongest rival.
Local Parisian resident Jean-Max, who purchased the book for his wife, wondered if Juppe also planned on launching a book.
In July, Sarkozy's poll rating overtook Juppe's among core Les Republicains supporters, though he was still less popular among centre-right voters as a whole.
