This election season, the BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi seems to be everybody's easy ticket to free publicity.

Meghna Patel, a littleknown starlet who calls herself Gujarat ki beti, is the latest to latch on to the Modi bandwagon in an attempt to garner her 15 minutes. Thus we have Patel's nude posters, which she describes as "artistic" and "aesthetic", holding only Modi's photograph to cover her modesty.


Yet another Photoshopped poster shows the actress with strategically placed lotus flowers, which if you remember is the BJP's election symbol. "Main Gujarat ki beti hoon," croons Patel, who grew up in Vadodara. "I have lived all my life in Gujarat, and this is my way of showing patriotism. Modi is the most honest, reasonable, hard-working, non-corrupt leader around and does not play dirty politics. His most endearing quality is that he fears no one. In my own way, I have paid tribute to the man I believe is best for India."
BJP honchos, unsurprisingly, are clearly not amused. "This is weird," said state BJP spokesman Vijay Rupani. "We do not know who she is and what her intentions are." With five more months to go before the polls, we can only wonder what else we are going to be subjected to this election season.
