Gandhinagar, Aug 05 (ANI): State BJP president Vijay Rupani on Friday was named the next Chief Minister of Gujarat while senior minister Nitin Patel - who was a frontrunner until the last moment - was made the Deputy Chief Minister. In a crucial meeting attended by BJP Chief Amit Shah and Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari at the party headquarters in the state, the decision to make Rupani as the next Chief Minister was announced. Rupani's appointment comes after former CM Anandiben Patel resigned from the post earlier this week citing her age, adding that she wanted younger leaders to take over the reins of the party prior to the 2017 state assembly elections.
