CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA — A poor little dog got impaled on an iron fence spike at his owners’ house on Saturday and had to be rescued by firefighters.
The labrador named Wilbur probably underestimated the distance of the jump before getting gored on the spike, Gaston County firefighters told local media outlet WBTV.
Wilbur was rescued by firefighters after his owners arrived home and found him skewed like a piece of meat on a kebab.
Judging from the photos, the fence pierced between the dog’s tail and hip. Firefighters had to cut a portion of the fence off with a metal cutter to get Wilbur out, but he remained calm throughout the ordeal.
The dog was later transferred to a local animal hospital for treatment, and is recovering well. Wilbur’s owners decided to install a rubber top on the fence to avoid similar cases happening again.
