My dad and I go to Japan. It was AMAZING. I can't friggin wait to come back!
In this video, Kayoko, my dad, and I travel to Hiroshima. We begin our visit by eating delectable Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. We are visited by a cute cat while eating as well! Once we enter the main part of the city, we visit the Peace Memorial Museum. Seeing all of the artifacts, photos, and re-experiencing the horrors of what happened to this city was haunting to say the least. I had just watched Barefoot Gen in my downtime at the hotel before we came here as well so the feelings were fresh.
After the museum, we strolled through the beautiful Peace Park and saw the Children's Peace Monument, commemorating Sadako Sasaki. Kayoko made me an origami crane as well, a symbol of Sadako, who folded one-thousand of them before her death. Though the air did feel heavy with melancholy, there was also a wonderful feeling of renewal and happiness shone in the residents that really got to me. Seeing so many happy people in a place with such a somber history filled me with a lot of positive emotions. After walking around Hiroshima some more, we headed to the train station. After my dad and I bid farewell to Kayoko, we headed back to Osaka. The next morning, we strolled to Dotonburi to eat the famous Takoyaki. It was incredible! After that, we hurried back to the train station to head back to Tokyo to meet up with Miwa again.
A million thanks to Miwa, Madoka, and Kayoko for being absolutely amazing guides and all around wonderful to be around! You guys are incredible! ❤️
