After last week’s comp in Villars, Switzerland, the IFSC Lead World Cup headed to the French alpine resort of Briancon.
Janja Garnbret really stepped up a gear for the finals. She reached the top of the wall but was timed out with two holds to go. Carrying on regardless, she finished the route, winning the hearts of the crowd in the process.
French climber and local favourite Romain Desgranges climbed in perfect control to take second. Despite being roared on by the crowd, Romain couldn't quite reach the chains.
On another day his performance might have been enough for the win, but Domen Skofic had other plans. He read the route brilliantly and climbed higher than anyone else taking the win.
