Dentists can predict the development of cavities in children. While brushing and flossing traditionally are the main cavity prevention recommendations, dentists identified patients at greater risks for cavities in a new study. Researchers at the University of California San Francisco found a protocol used by dentists can treat the causes of cavities before they become a health issue. The CAMBRA system used factors like diet, socioeconomic status, and snacking habits to pinpoint people at-risk for cavitiies. Cavities, are a form of oral disease that are treated when it's too late. They can lead to worse dental problems later in life especially for children.
