Khazad-Doom “Level 6 ½” 1970 Mega Rare by killer US psych band

Just one copy of the original LEVEL 6 ½ vinyl rides the top of collectors’ wish-lists and has traded for as much as $2,000 a copy..

In the summer of ‘64, back in Illinois, California, four individuals come together with the intention of starting his own band, using the few resources they had hands, they were, Jack Eadon, Bob Davis, Tom Sievers and Bill Heine. Originally called “ The Vibratos ”. During the next five years training would countless changes until around 1968 would be formed almost formally, renamed “ The Laymen . ”

Over the next year would perform his first professional album, in an independent production, which unfortunately would records. Finally, since the end of 1969, the group would be finally formed with four members, Jack Eadon on guitar, Tom Sievers on bass, Al Yates in organ and Steve Hilkins on drums, also changing its name to “ Khazad Doom ” .

Between 1969 and 1970, several songs together again and went to study, launching its “ Level 6 ½ ” private circulation work, very few copies to sell in the proceedings. It is a work of underground psychedelia, something dark and with a somewhat oscillating complexity rises above the average standard, so we have a psychedelia at times something proto-progressive, developed based on keyboards and soft passages rock, with many voices and melodies type ballads

They have several similarities to the sound of “ The CA Quintet ”, not as experimental as these, but still make an underground psychedelia that seems born of similar areas, something like amateur and without a big production. With an indefinite style, which are developed according to commercial influences which grew and musical conditions that influenced at the time, melodic pop, slow ballads, some beat, a sound also something garage.

Far are the rock itself said, and more solos, do not demonstrate approaches to the blues or rock, except for some lost riffs that you hear out there or any subject has any intention of riff or rhythm blues rock; but if we see it in its entirety, you could say that it is psychedelia, which is being created in their own broth underground culture, something acid, which is generated around their own rules or musical resources.

The band several recordings, some under and other studies with good resources, but the fact that it is not spent more than being a quasi commercial under band, which was devoted to playing in clubs and pubs, etc. After several years, in 2007, a compilatoria cd, which brings together many of the recordings left by the band full album “ Level 6 ½ ” together with other pieces that were recorded, is this reissue we are sharing is launched here....
