East Gippsland was battered by heavy rainfall with low pressure systems expected bringing up to 150 millimetres of rainfall to the region over a three-day period. Multiple flood warnings were issued by the Bureau of Meteorology Victoria and SES on July 7, when rivers and catchments threatened to overflow.
