First India-Nepal EPG held in Kathmandu

Nepal, July 06 (ANI): The Nepal- India Eminent Persons' Group (EPG) has decided to chart out a working modality to strengthen the ties between the two countries. The two-day meeting of the EPG held in Kathmandu was concluded on Tuesday. The EPG has decided to give continuity to the talks to sort out the differences that have surfaced since the signing of the 1950 Peace and Friendship Treaty between India and Nepal. The dignitaries of both the sides have agreed to hold talks regularly. The meeting focused on strengthening the relations between the two countries through mutual help and understanding. The EPG has reportedly been given two years to come up with a conclusive report on any updation in any agreement that needs to be forged to improve ties. Dr. Bhekh Bahadur Thapa, Nilambar Acharya, Suryanath Upadhyay and Dr. Rajan Bhattarai represented Nepal whereas the Indian side comprised politician Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, former Indian ambassador to Nepal, Jayant Prasad, Professor Mahendra P. Lama and Professor B.C. Upreti.
