Officer Matthew Hixey wants his buddy [k9] Ajax to be with him in retirement but the Ohio city of Marietta sees Ajax as equipment, and is holding an auction to auction the dog off. The city would not take the officers $3,500 payment for the dog.

There is a Change.org, GoFundMe account I will list. there was a similar issue with another city over a K9 named Chip. Both lived happily ever after once the right payment could be made, and Officer Hixey is calling for a change to Ohio Revised Code 721.15 which would stop this unlawful practice.
