Some residents were briefly allowed back to their homes on Thursday, June 23, in the area affected by the San Gabriel Complex wildfire as firefighters made some progress in containing the fire. This video shows a timelapse of the fire as it began to spread on June 21.
Alex Rivest, who took the video, described what he saw: “When the San Gabriel Complex Fire broke out on June 20, it was amazing to see how fast it was spreading. On the 21st night, I found the tallest structure I could in Alhambra to try and capture a timelapse sequence of the fire spreading. This timelapse was taken for around 40 minutes, and you can see how the fire slowly spreads and even the airplane dumping water on part of the fire.” Credit: Alex Rivest
